Sister Stamps Release #19 -- Mochi Pounding

Hello again!  Welcome to the last day of previews for Sister Stamps Release #19.  All of these cute stamps will be available November 1st.  We're continuing with the mochi theme.  The last image is called Mochi Pounding.  We celebrate New Year's by making mochi with my hubby's family.  They don't pound out the mochi but use the steamer and some modern mochi cooker I guess.  I don't know because I'm not involved with that phase of the mochi making.  Mostly the guys do that.  And the mochi is super hot when it comes out.  The ladies all wait patiently to roll and form the mochi into nice little mounds.  We have a list of how many to make.  We put one in our house and in each of our cars!  I don't know if you put them in your cars as well.  So the ones for the cars are smaller and pretty cute!  We put little tangerines on top too.  Then of course we eat some too!  It's pretty fun to watch the kids make mochi.  It's the only time they can play around with their food!

Anyway, today I'm continuing with calendars.  I wanted to make two but I didn't have enough gold paper!  So I made one.

I added all of the images onto this wall calendar.  One of my blogging friends used to make these large calendar templates and so I wanted to do something like that.  I found the calendar online HERE.  There on tons of free calendar templates online so I'm sure you'll find something you like.  I reduced the size so I could print out 2 of these calendars onto one sheet.  I matted the washi paper onto gold and then onto black cardstock.  I added a light gold ribbon onto the back instead of poking holes through the calendar.  And I finally found a use of these black photo corners.

Here is a close up of the top scene.  The year was done in gold paper too and I used CC Cutters numbers die.

Here is a close up of the mochi pounders.  They look so happy doing such hard work.

And here are Hideo and Mieko making yet another appearance!  They look like they are playing sword fight with their mochi sticks.  As usual the kids play around while the adults do all the hard work!

My hubby has already called dibs on this calendar so I guess it won't be going to a teacher.  His company has rules about giving gifts to the higher ups so instead of giving gifts to his boss, we give my hubby's boss' wife the gifts.  Kind of a way to thank the boss without really giving him anything and breaking the rules.

Please check out the rest of the DT and their creations!

Sister Stamps Release #19 -- Hideo & Mieko (again!)

Hello!  Welcome to another day of Sister Stamps Release #19!  These stamps will be available November 1st.  So besides mochi and money, the New Year's Day also reminds me of calendars.  And I know there are many crafters that make calendars every year.  I make quite a few too because they make great little gifts.

Again, I decided to make a boy and girl version of my project.  These are perpetual calendars that I made using some dies from CC Designs.  I did a tutorial on these HERE.  Yes, they can be a little time consuming to make cause of all those alphabet dies but so worth it in the end.  And it does move fast once you get the hang of cutting out all those letters.

This is the first one I made using Mieko.  I wanted this to look especially girly so lots of pink.  I used some gold paper that I bought from J's.  I might've taken his last 2 sheets!  Hopefully, he'll get more in stock soon.  The sentiment is from CC Designs too.

Here is a close up.  I used the cherry blossom embossing folder from Darice though I didn't even notice I glued it with the reverse side showing.  But still looks nice.

Then I decided I should make this one with Hideo.  Same layout and design just different colors.  I think I will be saving these for my boys' nihongo teachers.

I forgot to add this photo in!  Must have been distracted somehow.  But here is a close up photo of Hideo.

Please check out what these ladies have to share today too!

Sister Stamps Release #19 -- Hideo & Mieko

Hello!  Welcome to Sister Stamps Release #19!  Have you been checking out the introductory posts by Jenny on the Sister Stamps blog?  Don't miss the chance to win one of these cuties.  Aren't these images just perfect for New Year's?

I made some New Year's money gift holders.  I saw this idea of using MFT's vertical gift card holder onto some layered tags and thought it was so fun.  Problem -- no layering tag dies.  So I used my Perfect Layers rulers to make the tags around the gift card holder.  I think it was 3/8th inch around the 3 sides and then 1 inch on the top.  Then just cut the top corners.  Then I added another thin layer around that tag.

I made this one with Hideo first.  Not very Asian-y colors or papers.

Here's a close up.  Love his mochi on a stick.  Our kids love mochi!  Totally in the mood for some now.

After making Hideo, I wanted a girl version so I used Mieko too.  This one is more Asian with washi paper.

Here's a close up of this cutie.  Love her little cheeks!

You can see more of this release by checking out the talented ladies below!  Be sure to say hello to this month's guest designer too!

Perfect Paper Crafting & Laura
My Mind's Eye
Eva (Me!)

Recently, I saw these layering tags dies and thought I really wanted those.  I love the look of layered tags so I used my Perfect Layers rulers to make some with My Mind's Eye Happy Haunting papers.

I have a tag die from Papertrey Ink so I used that as my smaller tag.  I glued that tag onto kraft cardstock and used my ruler to cut a 1/8th inch border around the whole tag.  I made 11 tags and put them together to create this mini Halloween tag album.  Hopefully, I will fill it with photos from this Halloween.

Here are some of the tags.  Lots of glittered paper in this Halloween set.

I love this tag because of the fun saying.  This was actually a sticker that was just a bit shorter than the PTI tag die so I placed the sticker onto cardstock first and cut it out with the die.

Another view.  Did I mention there is a lot of orange glitter on these papers?  A LOT.

Next on the hop is Roxie!

Thanks for stopping by!

Hello!  Welcome to Yumi & Fumi Handmade and Perfect Paper Crafting Blog Hop!  While making my card for this hop, it brought back fun memories of my time as a DT member of Yumi & Fumi Handmade.  Lots of fun coloring up these images!   As with all of our hops, please leave a comment on each blog to qualify for some awesome prizes.  There is a $50 gift certificate from Perfect Paper Crafting's online store up for grabs.  Yumi & Fumi Handmade is also offering 4 single stamps to 4 different commenters.  You will have until Monday, October 28th at 12:00 AM PST to leave your comments.  Good luck!

Here is the blog hop list:
Laura & Perfect Paper Crafting
Yumi & Fumi Handmade
Eva (ME!!)

I'm in a Christmas mood already so I made a Christmas card.  It would be okay with me if we skipped Halloween and just went ahead to Thanksgiving and Christmas.

My card features the lovely Yeti Yumi.  I love her fluffy jacket!  I should also mention that I followed the Deconstructed Sketch #122.  The snowflake was created with MFT's snowflake die and cut out in felt.  The papers are from Doodlebug probably couple years back and the layers were all made with the Perfect Layers rulers.  Mostly I like to create thin layers and these rulers make that simple.

A little close up of Yumi and her fluffy jacket.  Edit:  just had to say that the mats are actually a dark green (PTI's pinefeather cardstock) and not black though they might look black.

Next on the hop is Rosemary!!

Thanks so much for joining in on our hop!  Don't forget to leave a comment so you can qualify to win one of the prizes!

CC Designs October Review -- Roberto's Rascals

Hello!  It is a review day over at CC Designs.  We're reviewing a bunch of different stamps today so please head over there and check them out.  I made a couple of cards using Roberto's Rascals stamps.

This first one features Merry Christmas.  It's a fairly large image so it fills up the whole space!  The sentiment is from AmyR's Scripted Greetings and Fanciful Christmas.

I actually fussy cut all around the image and cut out even some of the tiny white spaces.  I cut through the girl's pony tail and then through her wrist to get to some of the white spaces.  But once you glue the image down flat on the card you can't even tell where I cut.  And the grouchy cat makes another appearance!

This is my second card featuring I Want That.  Holy smokes, this took me forever to color!  So much details on this image that I kept the rest pretty simple.  I made a big bow which is mostly by accident.  I made the smaller one in the front first then thought that was too small and made a larger one.  Then I stuck on the smaller one on top the bigger one so it would look fuller.  The little tag was made using the Grunge Envelope die.  The sentiment is from Funny Christmas Sayings.

Here is a close up.  This stamp along with Henry Claus are special Toys for Tots stamps with 30% of the proceeds going to Toys for Tots.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

CC Designs Toys for Tots Blog Hop!!

Hello!  Welcome to the CC Designs Toys for Tots Blog Hop!  I am so excited you could join us for the preview of Roberto's Rascals "Henry Claus" and "I want that."  CC Designs will be donating 30% of the sales of these 2 adorable stamps to Toys for Tots from today October 4, 2013 through December 23, 2013.

If you arrived here from Christa's blog, you are in the right place.  If not, you may want to go back to the start of the hop HERE.

This is my project featuring Henry Claus.  He is pretty sweet and gotta love his little dog hitching a ride in his sack.  The sentiment on the little tag is from Funny Christmas Sayings.

Here is a close up of little Henry.

This project looks similar to the other present shaped gift card holder I made HERE.  But it is actually different.  The tutorial can be found HERE.  I changed it up by adding real ribbon.  When you remove the bow, the top and bottom open up.

This is the inside.  There is a space for the gift card to slide into.  The sentiment on the inside is from AmyR Scripted Greetings.  I love the fancy look of this sentiment.

Next on the hop is Delphine!  I am sure she has something wonderful to share with you.  Thanks so much for stopping by!

CC Designs October Preview -- Swiss Pixies

Hello!  Welcome back to Day 2 of CC Designs October previews.  We're continuing with the Christmas theme.

Here is my project featuring Santa's Helper.  Super cute?  I wanted to use some non-traditional Christmas colors too like pink and blue.  And that little present is a new die too called Presents.  Easy to remember.  I attached a small tag onto the ribbon with a bell die and sentiment from Scripted Greetings.

Here is a little close up photo.  She has some stickles on her outfit and glossy accents on the ornament and bell.

When you undo the bow, the top slides out and you can write a message or maybe attach a gift card.  I found a tutorial for it HERE.  I am slowly trying to build up a stash of gift card holders or cards for all of my kids' teachers.

Please head over to CC Designs blog to see more cute projects with the October release.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
