Personalized Pillows

Hello!  Happy 2015!  My first post of the new year.  I am trying to get back into the swing of things.  My oldest went back to school today so I had to get up early to make her breakfast and pack up her lunch.  For the past 2 weeks my hubby was packing up his own breakfast and lunch for work since I was still sleeping.  It was kind of comical the first couple days since he forgot to take this or that.  He wasn't used to having to get his own things ready.  Spoiled, right?!  It was nice to sleep in for a few days and hang out in my pjs, not do my hair and not worry about pick ups or drop offs.  So lovely!  But it also makes me feel sluggy and lazy and I didn't do any crafting even though my hubby needed some thank you cards.  Ha!  I'm on vacation!  My boys have another whole week off!  It's a long break this school year.

I still have a couple projects from 2014 to share.  I sewed up a couple of pillow cases for my daughter's class supervisor and her daughter.  I wanted to try to personalize them with their names so I printed their names out and then traced them on to the super strong Heat Bond adhesive plus fabric.

Here is the first pillow case.  Sorry, I smudged out her name.  I like this fabric.  It reminds me of my daughter's school.

This is the one for her daughter.  I smudged out her name also.

Here is the back of the pillow case.  Found the tutorial HERE.  These are 12x16 inch pillows and mostly decorative.  I thought about making a ton of these pillows for the rest of my daughter's teachers!  It would be nice to decorate the teachers' offices and use fabric related to the subject they teach.

I want to try some new crafts this year.  Hopefully I can get my hands on some of the supplies because it can be expensive.  I'll share when I can.  My daughter also got some fun nail polish for Xmas and that just brought back lots of memories of when I used to do my own nails in high school and college.  Nail art has totally evolved!  So amazing some of the things people add or just paint onto nails these days.

Okay, that is it for today.  Thanks so much for stopping by!

Such fun pillow cases...they make \ a great gift, especially being personallized! Your sewing looks fantastic!
My daughter doesn't go back to college until the beginning of February....such a nice break for her. I can't complain because we just came back from a week vacation in Florida....nice and relaxing.
Happy 2015 to your and yours!

We had too long of a vacation, everyone wasn't ready to wake up so early today! At least it's warmer this week. Cute pillows!

I love the fabric you chose for each pillow! Personalizing gives it that extra special touch that they will definitely appreciate.
Great new projects Eva.
I'm also sorta branching out in to new crafty project territory. It's not new, but new to me.
We'll see how it goes.

nuts and bolts

Hello!  Today I'll be sharing the last amigurumi I made during my crochet frenzy.  I haven't been crocheting much recently except for this one little project I'm kind of procrastinating with.  I really do love this last one because I think it came out really cute. This is a little crocheted robot designed by Bubblegum Belles .  You can find the pattern HERE .  Sometimes I purchase the patterns especially if they are really cute.  But a lot of designers do list their patterns for free too on their blogs so I always check to see if they have a blog or not.  It's also important to read their pattern listing too if you are purchasing to see whether they are for personal use or also for commercial use.  Here is a different view of him.  Happy that he is able to sit on his bottom.  I actually cut out 2 felt hearts using a heart die, blanket stitched them together, and then hot glued the heart to the robot.  I tried stitching one h...

Snowman gift card holder

Hi!  I was planning to post this last night but I was just too tired to write or think of complete sentences.  It's been a busy week with the boys on Fall break and still trying to finish up a bunch of crafts.  I have been trying to make some crocheted crafts to put in my Etsy shop and finally I'm done with one.  It's a crocheted snowman that can hold a gift card or anything actually that is small enough to fit in the pouch.  The pattern is designed by ChiWei Ranck of One Dog Woof and can be found HERE . Here's the little snowman with his arms folded over in the front to look like he is hugging the card.  I added this fun card that I stamped.  You can definitely add in a gift card too behind this card. The gift card reaches under his nose. This is how the little opening of the pouch looks.  I hope I can make more of these little guys.  These would be so cute for teachers and I think it would be easy to put a little wire throug...
