Crocheted Market Bag

Hi!  So today's been very exciting after finding out my little baby memory box made it into TGF's Royalty Contest Final Four .  Then I got a little nervous so I had to clean the house to use up some nervous energy.  But with 3 kids on summer break the house doesn't stay clean for long.  And thanks to everyone for the sweet comments! Anyway, onto today's project.  Over the past few days, I've been crocheting this market bag.  The pattern is from Lion Brand Yarn #60551.  It's not too large or small and fits a good amount of stuff in it.  I put my kids toys in it just to see what would fit. I had originally planned to make bags similar to this one as Xmas presents last year but started too late.  Here's my youngest trying the bag on for size.  Yeah, it's really too big for him.  Excuse all the messy toys in the background. Thanks for reading and have a great day!

Happy 4th!

Hi!  Now that summer is here, seems like I have more time to craft.  Though I know that could change any minute.  I got a chance to make another card.  This one is inspired by TGF's Farm Fresh Friday 4th of July Fun challenge and by Anyone For Anya's sketch challenge .  It's my first time participating with Anyone For Anya even though I've visited their blog many times before. My little card to celebrate the 4th of July.  I used TGF's Twirl Anya and paper pieced her top.  I thought the pinwheel looked fun.  I also thought about using Twirl Anya on a scrapbook page of my family watching the 4th of July fireworks from couple years back but it's kind of hassles to get the photos printed out.  Yeah, this summer I'm totally feeling lazy.  The stars stamped behind her are from Lawn Fawn and the ticket die and stamps from PTI.  I had to add some flowers to camouflage my grass rub-on.  Only a bit of it rubbed off and then when I put...

My Friend

Hi!  Made another card today inspired by TGF's Mystery Monday casing Kris4rmmaui . I decided to use TGF's Snuggle.  She is one of my favorites.  Such a sweet image.  Sentiment is from TGF's Spotlight kit.  There are little hearts (from Lawn Fawn) stamped behind her and the leaves are from PTI's Turning a New Leaf stamp and die sets.  Another fairly simple and straightforward card.  Didn't want to mess too much with layering. Thanks so much for reading!

Let's Jam!

Hi!  Maybe I should be sleeping already.  But it's summer and I feel like just doing nothing and crafting all day and sleeping really late at night.  And I made a card.  A quickie kind of card inspired by TGF's WOW sketch #6 .  After making all these cutesy, pinky, little princess stuff I thought I'd make a boy card plus play with new stamps and paper.  Here's Tyler from TGF's Creepin set.  Mostly I picked him cause he matched my paper and I've been wanting to use this paper that I won from Die Cuts r us a little while ago.  On the reverse side of the guitars was the red sheet printed with cassette tapes!  Wow, do kids know what that is nowadays?  Also used Lawn Fawn's Teeny Tiny Backdrops for the music notes and the red music notes were die cut from MFT dies.  Pretty simple and straightforward card. Short post today.  Thanks for reading and have a great week!

Every Girl Born a Princess

Hi!  Well, that's how it should be anyway.  That's the theme I wanted to convey with this project I created for TGF's Royalty Contest week 4 .  I'm kind of addicted to these contests, I think.  Umm, might be the competitive side of me although really I'm a laid-back, calm kind of person.  What do you think, Cheryl?  Anyway, week 4 asks us to use one of the 4Cs (castle, crown or tiara, carriage and/or carats or bling).  I know it says one of the 4 but I did manage to get in all of the 4.  So, I've been seeing these book card boxes in blogland and wanted to try to make one too.  I saw a tutorial HERE .  If you do a search for them you're likely to find one tutorial or another.  But I wanted this book card to be more than a card because I like functional and practical gifts.  I thought well it's a pretty fancy card to give a person but then what would the person do with it?  So I thought about if for a bit and came up with ...

To my middle child

Hi!  So sometimes my older son exhibits middle child syndrome.  He wants to be the baby and wants more attention.  While I was making scrapbook pages of his big sister, he asked me to make a page for him, a prince page since I made a princess page for my daughter.  Sigh.  But I told him not a prince page and came up with a different idea inspired by TGF's Farm Fresh Friday Challenge Get Sentimental . I got some photos of him printed out at Costco.  They are from last Christmas when his kindergarten class was performing.  They are some of my favorite photos of him because they capture his expressive side.  He does love Justin Bieber!  He'll watch Justin Bieber's videos on You Tube and sing along but he is still shy.  I'm trying to get him to join his school chorus in the 1st grade. I used American Crafts stickers for the title and stitched together the puffy felt heart using MFT's heart dies and PTI felt.  I hand cut the u from f...

Happy Father's Day!

See, I am so last minute, I actually made my husband's card today.  I used the sketch from Card Patterns . Nothing really fancy, just trying to get something done.  That might be my new motto. The cardstock is PTI.  The patterned paper is from a Tim Holtz paper pad.  Luckily it was double sided so there were coordinating solid colors to use for the circles and banner.  I printed the sentiment on the paper and trimmed my own banner.  Stamped the letters on the circles.  I guess they could be aligned better, oh well. OK, that's about it for me, I don't know what else to write about on my blog posts, but hope everyone had a nice day!

How did Eva recover from vacation so fast?

We came back from vacation a while ago and I still feel like I'm recovering!  It takes me a while to get back into the swing of things, cleaning the house, catching up on work, plus a new summer routine with new activities for the kids...  But I thought I should get started on making things as I need some cards, like yesterday!  It is going to be a busy baby month this summer (not me, thank goodness). So here is a baby card using the  Mystery Monday card at TGF . In retrospect, I should have made the rectangles and squares on a smaller scale, I didn't realize the baby stamp was that tiny.  But oh well, I'm trying to get the card out in a timely fashion before the baby is actually born.  I used PTI cardstock and patterned paper.  The flower paper is from a DCWV stack from eons ago.

Our very own ...

Princess! Hi!  That princess would be our daughter.  I used her one year old studio photo (taken by Owen & Owen Photography) for TGF's Royalty Contest Week 3 .  It's a sketch challenge. But I thought I'd use the sketch as a layout for a scrapbook page.  I had to stretch it a bit since my page is 12x12. My mom bought that cute little princess dress for her and most of the baby jewelry she is wearing in the photo.  I love that dress.  I still have it.  I thought Princess Anya #3's dress was really similar to my daughter's one with the bow on the front and decided to use her.  I recently bought all the princesses including the original one.  Yes, I didn't have that one yet but when the 2 new ones came out, I had to get them all!  Sigh, they are so adorable!  I added rhinestones (that I colored with my copic marker) to her crown and stickles on her dress. I printed her name out and added all the rhinestones around it, not i...

Kiss the Girl!

Hi!  After being on vacation for so long I think I've forgotten how to craft and take pictures and blog.  I couldn't remember my set up for taking photos.  Hopefully, it'll come back to me.  Anyway, while away I did see that TGF was having a super fun looking Royalty Contest.  I missed week 1 but thought I could try week 2 which is to use a photo posted on TGF's site as inspiration .  I went with the wedding/wedding cake/couple theme for the inspiration for my card.  And because I have Disney on my mind, I wanted to portray Ariel and her Prince Eric having a beach wedding. I used my reverse wonky rectangles (cut from some sparkly Stampin' Up cardstock) to make a cake and placed a shell sticker on top.  (The stickers were from Cheryl to my kids but I borrowed a couple). Here is Mermaid Anya.  Here is Prince Eric made up of Prince Ian's body and Dress Me Ian's head.  I had Prince Ian's whole body and head all set to go when I got his...

We're Back!

Hello!  Finally back from our vacation.  And it's really nice to be home though our kids wanted to stay at Disneyland forever.  We visited other places too so our trip lasted almost 2 weeks and boy, we (mom and dad) are wiped out.  I think maybe a week is more manageable.  We (actually, my hubby) had to do laundry while on vacation.  Fighting over 3 or 4 washers was not fun.  But we did get to hang out with Cheryl and her family which is always nice since our kids get to play together.  We don't live in the same state anymore so getting together is a rare treat.  I did miss checking blogs and participating in challenges especially week 1 of TGF's Royalty Contest.  Gosh, those new princesses are so cute!  Anyway, I had to make a quickie card for my youngest.  He just turned 3 years old after our vacation which is a good thing since he was free to most of the attractions.  I made him another bookmark/card using this Li...
