Hoot! Hoot!

Hi!  I would've started writing this post earlier but I'm a little addicted to watching The Voice so I had to watch that first and I even washed all the dinner dishes in 30 minutes so I could just sit on the couch.  But I'm slightly disappointed.  Nothing really stood out tonight.  Last week I really loved Pink's Perfect.  I mean Javier was good tonight but we kind of already knew that.  Anyway, on to my project.

A couple of days ago or so I got my Lion Brand e-newsletter and they had this cute grad owl amigurumi (pattern number 80282AD) so I had to check out the site.  But then I found an even cuter owl (pattern number L0256AD) so decided to go with that one instead.  Plus it was smaller so I thought it would be faster for me to make.  Then I thought I'd make a matching card for TGF's Farm Fresh Friday Challenge to make a Congrats card.

Here's a pic of the owl.  Isn't she the cutest?!  She's just 3 inches tall without the grad cap.  I added the cap and tassel and put a little cell phone clip (with a lobster claw clasp) so you can put it on something.  I had those things in my jewelry making stash.  Her nose is just a triangle piece of felt that I glued on.  Well, my kids love her and I may have to make 3 more just for them and all in different colors.  Reminds me of the Owl Babies book.  Cute story too.

Here she is hanging out.

Here's the card I made inspired by the crocheted owl.  I decided to go with the sliding pop-up card which was highlighted by SCS not too long ago.  The tutorial is HERE.  My dimensions are just a bit larger.  I used the owl from TGF's Forest Friends and borrowed Grad Anya's cap.  I also broke down and bought a couple of Hero Arts background stamps.  (Totally inspired by Donna Mikasa--I love how she uses the background stamps on her cards).  I used the large canvas one on the kraft cardstock.

So when you slide out the bottom piece, it says Congrats.  And then it stands on its own.  I added some butterflies (MS) and a daisy (MFT dienamics).  The letters are cut from one of the Hello Kitty sizzlits.

Side view.  Owl on the brown pops up.

Together.  Cute?

Thanks for reading!

Yeah, nothing was super spectacular on the Voice yesterday, but I thought Cee-Lo should have picked the other guy. Although I didn't even know what song they were singing. Anyhow, super cute grad owl! I love those big round eyes! The hat is cute too. The card is so clever too! Love the matching owl! I will need to check out that tutorial, I guess I should get started on some cards.

no BUTTS about it

Hello!  Today I have a series of cards to share which I think are super cute and funny too.  I love Birdie Brown's stamp sets available at MFT and the cards today uses the behind images of the cat, dog & pig found in Cool Cat, Lucky Dog and Hog Heaven.

I had a couple of ideas for the design of this card but I felt the sentiment called for multiple images of the animal's behind.  I just couldn't let there be one image and the sentiment have plural Butts.  I know that is weird of me but things like that drive me a little crazy.  I won't get into how people misuse plural and possessive s though.  That really drives me crazy.  Anyway, so then I thought this would be a cute way to stamp multiple images over the card.  I created the sentiment on the front using an alphabet set from Lawn Fawn.

This is the sentiment on the inside which comes in the Cool Cat stamp set.

Here is the dog version.  These cards took a lot of time to color!

Papertrey November Blog Hop Challenge

Hi!  It's been a while since I participated in one of PTI's blog hop challenges.  But I had to play along this month.  Not only did I place an order on release night but I also got my goodies in about a week!  So I had some time to play around with my new stamps and dies.  Hehe.  Below is the inspiration photo.

I love the Christmas theme and the colors too so I went with that.

When I saw the newly released penguin stamp and die, I had to get them.  So cute!!  I thought this penguin would make a cute spinner card too.  Similar to the froggy one I made HERE.  I also used PTI's In the Meadow dies.  I used the die itself and my hobby blade to cut along the curved edge to create the little cut out for the penguin to slide.  I did that twice leaving a quarter inch space between them.

I layered the penguin with PTI's coasters.

I added a tiny bell to his hat.

He slides down.  The jingle all the way sentiment is from Tiny Treats Xmas.  Just traced the space with a pencil and curv…

I wheelie like you!

Hello!  I started making some Valentine's Day cards for my shop.  I love Lawn Fawn stamps and their punny sayings!  So I used a bunch of their stamps recently.  And I totally thought I would be good and not get anything from their new release but those dies!  I want the Fancy Box and the Scalloped Box Card Pop up!

Here is one of the cards I've made recently using Lawn Fawn's Wheelie Like You set.  I had to do some selective stamping to stamp the Wheelie three times and in red.  I use a small post it and cover up the words I do not want to be inked up.  Then I remove the post its and stamp only the word I want.

Here's a close up.  I fussy cut the little guinea pig out and adhered him onto the wheel.  Wait, he is a guinea pig, right?  Could he also be a hamster?

Well, hope everyone enjoyed their weekend.  We had an incredible day of traffic yesterday!  My husband and daughter were stuck on the road for about 5 hours.  If you live on Oahu, you know what I'm talking a…
