Spring bling

Hi!  Okay, so I cheated on my stamp diet.  I know, I'm so weak especially when there are so many cute stamps on my wish list.  I bought my first Wryn and actually my first ever Tiddly Inks stamp.  Wryn is so adorable that even though I'm not such a big fan of digis, I had to get at least one.  So  I decided to get Spring Bling cause I thought she would be a very versatile image great for any special occasion.  I have to also thank Christy because she was so quick and friendly when I had problems getting my links to the digis.  Great customer service!

I decided to use the sketch over at Ribbon Carousel Challenge cause sometimes, well, most of the time, I think I'm design challenged.  I really admire folks that can crank out those sketches and create pretty cards.

I think this Wryn is so adorable!  I'll be entering this also in Tiddly Inks Challenge 80--Sparkle it Up! so I added some rhinestones in the corner and stickles on the flowers.  I bought a whole bunch of these rhinestones in different colors from Walmart.  I think they were only a dollar for 60 in a package.  But now I never see them in stock when I check.  Glad I bought a whole bunch then.

Maybe this is a better view of the stickles on the flowers.

So the difficult thing I have with digis is just getting them to dry well so the lines don't smear.  I think I had to use my hair dryer on this for about 2 minutes and there was still a tiny smear by her cheek.  (Now everyone's gonna look for it).  I tried to avoid coloring over her eyes cause that I'm sure would've smeared.  And the other thing is, what size do you print your digis out at?  I think I reduced this one to 3x3 inches but I'm never really sure what is a good average size that would work well on a regular card.

Now I'm gonna color some other digis I bought.  Yes, more diet cheating but I promise I didn't go overboard.  Thanks for reading!

She's adorable! I can see why you caved in, lol. Love your coloring of her hair and the grass, too! As for digis, once in a while I have a problem with smearing esp if I do heavy blending, but most of the time it's not a problem. and I'm not patient enough to wait a long time for it to try. Maybe your printer ink?

Cute card! Wow Eva, awesome coloring! Yeah, I agree, love the grass too. And all the shading of her hair and dress. Yeah, not sure about what's the best for digis. My laser printer works pretty well, but it can't handle the thickness of papertrey ink cardstock, so I have to use the walmart cardstock instead. Haven't tried it on an inkjet.
Awesome Eva, you really did a great job with this image...
Quick question - what type of paper are you using.... I couldn't fiqure out why your images smear after printing. I never ever had this problem and have been using digis for a while now.....

Aw, this is adorable Eva! I love the composition of the Wryn on your card. The colors are terrific too. Gr8 grass and hair.
It sounds like you have an inkjet printer. What I do is once I print it I use my heat embosser to dry the image, then let it set for 30 mins. That seems to help the ink to not smear, but it's not full proof. Especially if you are saturating the paper with ink. This is when you learn how to do light strokes. You could invest in a laser printer. As for size, that's pretty much by experimenting. There are lots of tutorials on the TI site since they are a digi company. Check it out.
BTW, buying digis aren't as high in calories as rubber. lol!

This is gorgeous Eva!!! I love it!!
I usually size my digi's at a height of 3.5"-4". I don't know why, I just like that size for colouring in!!
Thank you for popping in and sharing it with the Tiddly Inkers

I've been eyeing those Wrynn images too -- I just love her name :) and how cute she is. Great card! I used to be like you w/ the digital stuff. I actually bought a new printer just to do stamps but for some reason, it still doesn't work. I use my sister's printer but she does a lot of graphic design so it's pretty high end. We usually print them so that four would fit in a page. But then again, my cards are pretty big.

This is so cute Eva! I love how you have done the grass with little yellow flowers! Gorgeous!

Thanks so much for joining us for the Sparkle challenge at Tiddly Inks!

PS I think the inkjet smearing is to do with the type of ink. I use a Brother printer and it doesn't smear, but I know when I used my Mum's Canon that ink did smear. I think heat setting it should help.
I usually use Word to put my digis in (change the text wrapping to Tight so the images can be moved around) and fit as many as I can to a page (usually around 6)... just eyeballing for size.

Snowman gift card holder

Hi!  I was planning to post this last night but I was just too tired to write or think of complete sentences.  It's been a busy week with the boys on Fall break and still trying to finish up a bunch of crafts.  I have been trying to make some crocheted crafts to put in my Etsy shop and finally I'm done with one.  It's a crocheted snowman that can hold a gift card or anything actually that is small enough to fit in the pouch.  The pattern is designed by ChiWei Ranck of One Dog Woof and can be found HERE . Here's the little snowman with his arms folded over in the front to look like he is hugging the card.  I added this fun card that I stamped.  You can definitely add in a gift card too behind this card. The gift card reaches under his nose. This is how the little opening of the pouch looks.  I hope I can make more of these little guys.  These would be so cute for teachers and I think it would be easy to put a little wire through the hat and then use it as

coffee cup shaped cards

Hi!  I think after this post I may need a little nap!  My right shoulder is actually feeling worn out from all the typing and photo editing I've been doing lately.  And this cooler weather is making me drowsy.  It's getting cold here already! I made a bunch of these coffee shaped cards using a die from Honey Bee Stamps .  It's a cute coffee set but the die is extra long so it would probably help to have a longer platform to diecut.  I just have the standard sized one so I would pass it through once in my Big Shot and then rotate the cardstock and die carefully to cut the other end.  Manageable but the longer platform would be more convenient! I embossed the front of the card with some pretty snowflakes.  I think this is a Sizzix embossing folder.  And then stamped the coffee sleeve with some Lawn Fawn stamps. This is the inside.  The gift card slot does not come with this coffee cup die set.  I cut that opening with one of the dies from MFT's gift card dies.

Knuffle Bunny

Hi!  The Greeting Farm had their Customer Challenge & Chit Chat Night "A Night at the Bookstore" and introduced a few challenges.  I have to say chatting was too fast for me and I couldn't really keep up.  It was still early here, and I had to pick up the kids from school and activities and make dinner and eat and so I guess the timing didn't really work out with our schedule. You can check out the challenge details on the SCS forum HERE .  I made this card for Favorite Child's Book category.  It is based on the Mo Willems book Knuffle Bunny .  It's one of my kids' favorites and it's such a cute story.  We actually love reading Mo Willems' books especially his Elephant and Piggie series.  Those books are hilarious!  This challenge also made me realize that I haven't read many books recently except kids' books.  I used to love reading but just haven't given it much time lately.  Anyway, here is my card. If you've read the story
