ME coaster calendars

Hi everyone!  I am so happy this day is done.  I went to my first craft party to sell some of my crafts.  I wouldn't say it was a complete success.  I sold some items and talked to some people.  I don't think I like to socialize much!  I much rather just hang out at home so it was kind of draining for me.  After an hour or so, I wanted to go home.  So happy that a good friend of mine was there to support me and I appreciate that so much.  But I think I learned a lot about what people like.  And I learned that I like crafting and making things but mostly it's because I just plain love to craft.  I don't craft to make money.  I make things for people to make them happy.  In fact, it is usually a person that inspires me to make something or to learn how to do a new craft.  I love making personalized gifts for people.  So I am happy that now I can get on with making some gifts for close friends and their kids, and Valentine's treats for my kids' classes, and cute Easter baskets for our cousins' kiddies instead of making items to sell.

Anyway, I had some leftover Taylored Expressions calendars and a whole bunch of PTI coasters.  So I was inspired by Karen's coaster calendars and made some myself.

I made these with some Mama Elephant stamps.  So CAS, right?  They have a magnetic strip on the back.

Here are some penguin ones.  I love these!

Well, there is a story to why I now have so many PTI coasters.  And it's because I was again suckered into purchasing a stamp/die set from PTI.  Gotta stop doing that!  Have you seen PTI's Love You to Pieces: Airplane set?  So cute, in theory.  Does it work with the coasters?  For me, no.  So apparently the die set was made to work with the coasters that PTI carries.  And it's supposed to cut just enough to let you pop out the pieces and let you put together a cute plane.  I ordered 2 packages of coasters, enough for both my boys' classes (50 coasters!).  I tried cutting them out using the the die and coasters and it was not cutting everything evenly.  If I put them through several times, some parts cut more than others and would fall out.  So I thought, gee, maybe I gotta get that metal shim to help my die cut better.  So I buy a metal shim.  First of all, it's a bad sign if you have to buy something else to make something you already bought work better!  I tried that and still does not work well with the coasters.  Then I tried it with my thin chipboard and that works pretty well.  But my chipboard is brown, that not so nice inside of the cereal box color.  I wish I could find thin and inexpensive white chipboard so I can stamp nice airplane colors!  So much trouble to make some Valentine's treats!  I think mostly I wish I did not buy this set.  But, ugh, stuck with it just like those coin purse dies!

Oh, and I wanted to mention that I got an email message from a sweet person.  I hadn't seen the message because it got sent to my spam box.  But just one day I was curious and decided I wanted to see what messages were in there.  And amongst all the junk, I found this encouraging message from a person I didn't even know.  Wow, how nice and uplifting!  I so appreciate that!  Thank you!

Thanks all for reading this kind of long for me post!

Oh gee, so sorry to hear you had so much problems with the die. I can imagine the frustration. I would be pulling hairs. Despite all of that, I think your calendars turned out SUPER CUTE!!! You and I could pass for twins. I love to hang out at home too...in the craft room right? Thanks for linking to my blog too. So sweet of you. Have a nice weekend Eva.

I love this post! Your opening story is so me too. I try to make things to sell (to make up for all the supplies I buy) but really I like only making a few to give away. Also I'm talkative but feel uncomfortable in a crowd after awhile and just want to be home crafting. LOL! I can relate to the part about the reason you have extra coasters. This year I have a surplus of calendars because I had big plans that did not work out. I am so happy to learn that there is another crafter out there who is 'crafting this and that'and learning about themselves at the same time. Hugs to you!

I really enjoy reading your posts! I truly relate to you but I wish I could just go out somewhere and buy your crafts! You are so multi-talented with your crafting skills and everything you make is my want. Have a nice Sunday :)

What, you're not the pushy salesman type?! You didn't say, you can't leave until you buy something from me! :) Awww, bummers about that PTI die! Do they still have a forum? I thought the hardest part was going to be aligning the airplane stamp onto the pieces! You ended up with cute calendars though!

Super cute calendar coasters....love the idea of having a magnetic strip on the back of them.
Sorry the craft show wasn't what you thought it would be, keep trying because your work is darling and you just have to find the right "buyer".

These are adorable! They are simple and cute! The perfect kind of craft.
I know how you feel about going to those crafty fairs/parties. I always feel the same way. I've pretty much given up on those unless I can go with a bunch of my friends. At least we'd have each other to keep us company while we complain how everyone wants what you've spent a lot of time on for just about nothing. As Denice said you just have to find the right buyer, or you can do like me, hoard it all after you finish them. :)

Snowman gift card holder

Hi!  I was planning to post this last night but I was just too tired to write or think of complete sentences.  It's been a busy week with the boys on Fall break and still trying to finish up a bunch of crafts.  I have been trying to make some crocheted crafts to put in my Etsy shop and finally I'm done with one.  It's a crocheted snowman that can hold a gift card or anything actually that is small enough to fit in the pouch.  The pattern is designed by ChiWei Ranck of One Dog Woof and can be found HERE . Here's the little snowman with his arms folded over in the front to look like he is hugging the card.  I added this fun card that I stamped.  You can definitely add in a gift card too behind this card. The gift card reaches under his nose. This is how the little opening of the pouch looks.  I hope I can make more of these little guys.  These would be so cute for teachers and I think it would be easy to put a little wire through the hat and then use it as

coffee cup shaped cards

Hi!  I think after this post I may need a little nap!  My right shoulder is actually feeling worn out from all the typing and photo editing I've been doing lately.  And this cooler weather is making me drowsy.  It's getting cold here already! I made a bunch of these coffee shaped cards using a die from Honey Bee Stamps .  It's a cute coffee set but the die is extra long so it would probably help to have a longer platform to diecut.  I just have the standard sized one so I would pass it through once in my Big Shot and then rotate the cardstock and die carefully to cut the other end.  Manageable but the longer platform would be more convenient! I embossed the front of the card with some pretty snowflakes.  I think this is a Sizzix embossing folder.  And then stamped the coffee sleeve with some Lawn Fawn stamps. This is the inside.  The gift card slot does not come with this coffee cup die set.  I cut that opening with one of the dies from MFT's gift card dies.

all occasion tags

Hello!  I have more tags to share today.  I kept these simple too to be used on most any occasion.  They have no sentiments on them. I used MFT's cute Birdie Brown Bitty Bears stamp set.  These were on my wish list for a while and I kept going back and forth about purchasing them especially because I wanted the dies to cut them out too and those were very expensive!  Geez, remember the old days when we used to fussy cut everything out by hand? This is the next 6 tags.  There's also a cute bear with a Santa hat that I didn't include in the photos.  This was a pretty quick project since I kept the bears white!  Not much coloring on these tags but they are still cute and colorful. I thought I was going to be doing more stamping but I've actually gone on to crochet more!  I've made 3 more crochet projects that I'll share soon.  Sometimes I do get the urge to color something but these days it's so much easier to pick up some yarn and my hook and crochet
