Best Mates

Hi!  I decided to use yet another retired and neglected stamp set from The Greeting Farm called Best Mates to make more home decor.  I wasn't sure who I could give this to if I made it into a card so I thought I'd put it in my room next to the other one I made HERE .  Plus it was the perfect time to use this set since the challenge over at Anyone for Anya was to create a pirate themed card.  I used The Deconstructed Sketch #45 for help in the layout. I like that quote.  And I think those are monkeys, right?  But what is that one on the right eating?  Cheese, pizza, or something else?  I made it into cheese.   I added some swirly rhinestones and black pearls all around too.  The pirate ship is heat embossed with some glitter too.  I wanna add something heat embossed to everything I make now.  Hehe.  I added some seam binding too.  I like using seam binding.  It's easier to tie a bow with and doesn't have to look perfect. I also want to enter this in TGF's

thanks a latte (tutorial)

Hi!  I made a boy version of the thanks a latte project I posted earlier HERE .  And in the process, I did a little tutorial.  If there's a question, just leave me a comment. First, cut a piece of cardstock to 6 x 11 inches. With cardstock like above, score cardstock at 1.5 inches and then at 4.5 inches from the left. Turn cardstock like above and score at 1.5 inches and 4.5 inches.  You'll also need to score at 6 inches but just til the score line you made in the above step, not all the way down.  You can rotate your cardstock to make the other short score line at 5 inches.  Hope that makes sense. Fold at the score lines and cut like above. Tape the top section.  These flaps will meet in the middle.  If you prefer not to see the seam you could fold it the other way and tape in the back. How it looks taped. I used an oval nestability to cut a small handle.  You can use just about any shape that fits.  I used a bit of removable tape to hold it in place.  You can al

Masa & Akemi

Hi!  I won some cute stamps from Sister Stamps recently so I thought I'd put together Easter treats for my kiddies' teachers.  I had actually won 2 Masas but Jenny was nice enough to switch one so I got Akemi too! I made 9 little treats, 7 Akemis and 2 Masas in different colors.  I used PTI's favor die and picket fence die.  Also used MFT's grass die. These are kind of small so I could only fill each one with 5 Nestle Crunch eggs.  Here are all the girls. A close up.  Cute!  Love the bunnies! I also used PTI's Tiny Tags die to cut little flower shaped tags and embossed Happy Easter on them. The 2 boys.   I colored his hair with Copics but I used a black Prismacolor Pencil on the blue one's hair which is why they look a bit different.  Just experimenting. Oh, I also have to share this card that my youngest one made as he asked that I blog it too.  Crab is from Paper Smooches and the shell from Lawn Fawn.  The coloring and design is all his own.  Hehe.

Thanks a latte!

Hi!  Did you get my pun in my post title?  Made a little something for The Greeting Farm's last round of March Madness -- Mad about tea parties .  The theme includes anything tea related, coffee, cocoa, Alice in Wonderland, etc.  I had a few ideas running through my head and I was making a card at first but then I scrapped that idea.  And I rarely ever just give up on something but I didn't feel it, you know?  But it's okay, cause that led me to this project that I love and will probably make for my kids' teachers for the end of the school year.  I made a little one cup gift card holder and caddy.  Please pretend that there is a Starbucks gift card in that cup.  I had these cute Strawberry Shortcake cups leftover from my daughter's 4th birthday party.  Ummm, she's 10 now.  So I've had them stored away for a while.  I covered up Strawberry Shortcake's faces on the cup by using my Spellbinder's circle nestabilities to cut a circle the size that I w

Another Birthday Card

Hello.  Ack, I told myself I'm not supposed to be spending too much time doing hobby stuff, but I couldn't help it.  I used the latest sketch from Card Patterns #158 . Used a Lilli Claire digital stamp from  Tiddly Inks .  I couldn't quite follow the bow and flower placement without it looking too unbalanced or something. Cardstock is from Papertrey Ink, patterned paper is Prima Marketing.  Colored the skin with Copics, the rest with Prismacolor pencils.  Added distress ink around the image, got a little too overzealous, tried to use the flower to cover that overdone corner.  I think it was too dark in my room and I couldn't tell how much ink was getting on there. Tried out my new Impression Plate from Papertrey Ink on the half lacey circle from Spellbinders, if you can tell in the close up.  I still don't know if I've figured out the optimal sandwich, but I think it worked pretty well once I sprayed the cardstock.  First I tried water, but it warped th

Love is all you need

Hi!  Finally, a crafty project to share with you.  I used the sketch from Anyone For Anya and used the theme from TGF's Retro-Fresh Challenge -- Spring Cleaning .    It's actually a nonfunctional piece of home decor.  Hehe.  I felt like making something to hang around the house though maybe it will go in my bedroom instead.  I used Kaisercraft's thick boards that I got from a sale.  It came as a 4 pack to be used like a mini-album.  But I decided to use each page separately.  I bought a pack of 7Gypsies ATC sentiment cards a while back and thought this one fit the image nicely.  And yes, it totally reminds me of The Beatles' song All You Need is Love.  I'll have to You Tube it. So this is from one of The Greeting Farm's older sets called Panda Friends.  I bought it after searching for TGF's older stamp sets through their list of retail stores that can be found on their store website.  Yes, I clicked on every link in the US and some in other countries t

Hello Blush Bonnie

Hi!  TGF's Friday Spy Day #24 is casing Rachel 's awesome card so I had to play along.  I went with the general layout of Rachel's card. I used TGF's Blush Bonnie who has been neglected for a while.  I forget that she is smaller than the usual TGF stamps.  She is lots of fun to color up.  I added some stick pins I've had for awhile.  I always think the recipient might poke their fingers so I thought this was a good layout to hide the sharp points.  I also got to play around with my new heat gun.  Hehe.  I bought the Tim Holtz hair dryer looking one from J's Knicknacks .  If you live around here, it's one of the best places to shop for stamps and other fun goodies.  He has awesome sales and discounts!  Anyway, I haven't heat embossed since I was in college, maybe?  A long time ago.  And back then I used to really just use my hair dryer!  It really is fun to heat emboss and not as messy as I feared thanks to plastic containers.  I used TGF's Blu
