Chicks Rule

Hi!  Wanted to try out a new (new for me at least) challenge blog over at Friday Sketchers .  This week's sketch is below and the challenge is sponsored by My Favorite Things so I had to give it a go.  I have to hurry too cause the challenge will close soon. I wanted to use my new Pure Innocence stamp called One Sweet Chick. Isn't she so cute and the little chicks are super cute too!  Her dress and egg are paper pieced.  I cut some grass from PTI felt.  I love that this came out bright and cheery. I plan to give this card to my cousin who got accepted to medical school!  Yay for her!  So yes, chicks rule!  I just gave her a bunch of cards to also give away to her friends.  At least I know the cards will be put to some use instead of just sitting around in a box.  Just need to warn her friends that they can never ever ever ever throw the cards away.  Heehee.  Thanks for reading and have a great day!

Many Thanks

Hi!  So is it really true??  It's the last ever Saturday Sketch at Club Anya ?  I'm really gonna miss those sketches.  And is Club Anya really closing its doors?  That's sad too.  Though I can't wait to see what they are planning next.  So I had to make a card for the last sketch. I made a little thank you card using TGF's Signature set to thank Club Anya and the design team for all their hard work and inspiration.  I'm so bad at commenting on their blog so thought I'd make a little something. And my hubby just pointed out Dorothy's shoes should be red not blue.  Geez, now he notices stuff like that.  Well, this is her before the ruby red slippers.  I cut the 3 cuties out and popped them up with dimensionals.  Isn't Toto just so cute?!  I had to really be careful cutting him out. The Club Anya is a stamp from the set.  Many Thanks is from PTI's Fillable Frames 1 stamp set. I really like how this card came out too.  And it's the first

A New Challenge Blog!

While I was blog surfing I came across this new challenge blog.  Sounds pretty exciting so check it out! "There’s a new challenge blog in town with articles, swaps, interviews, videos, challenges, great prizes and MORE! Check out Lily Pad Cards !" Have a great day!  I don't know why I can't undo the Italics.

Happy Spring

Hi!  Here's a little card inspired by All That Scraps Wednesday Challenge which is a sketch and TGF's Farm Fresh Friday Spring Break challenge. I used the sketch above to create the card below. I used TGF's Forest Friends for the very first time!  I love TGF's animal stamps.  They are so cute!  Do forest animals need a spring break too?  I'm thinking they do so the deer is wishing the sleepy owl a happy spring. The circle is cut from PTI's limitless layers die and stamped using Tag-its 1 and 2.  The deer is paper pieced in different layers so there is a lot of dimension on his body and head.  His eye and nose has liquid glaze too.  Butterflies from Martha Stewart punch. The sleepy owl is also paper pieced.  I used my oval Coluzzle (do you remember that?) to cut his home and used a Tim Holtz embossing folder to create the tree/wood texture.  There is liquid glaze also on his eyes and beak. I had a fun time with the sketch and I love how this card came

March 2012

Hi!  It's time for My Favorite Things weekly sketch ! I used this sketch for my March 2012 calendar/scrapbook page.  My January 2012 and February 2012 posts are HERE and HERE .  Hopefully I'll make it through the whole year so I can bind them all into a 6 x 6 book.  I used Pure Innocence Daffodil stamp. Basic Grey papers.  I love these stamps because of the flowers!  So cute!  My computer generated calendar.  I left some space above the calendar for photos or journaling. Also entering this into Wee Memories Challenge 49 (Anything Goes) . Kind of a short post tonight.  Thanks for reading!

Papertrey March Blog Hop Challenge

Hi!  It's time for another PTI blog hop challenge ! For the March Blog Hop we are challenging you to use embroidery floss in a fun and inventive way on your project.  This could include stitching, wrapping it around and tying it like ribbon, braiding, accenting tags, embroidered patterns or anything else you can dream up!  We look forward to seeing your creations! I've used embroidery floss a number of times on other projects and I went through my older posts.  I've crocheted flowers , made tassels , used it for sewing , decorated tags , and made spider webs with embroidery floss.  So I thought I'd try making something I've been holding off on because it looks pretty time consuming.  I still consider myself a beginner at crocheting but I've been wanting to crochet my own doilies or decorative trim.  I found this pattern for crochet trim at Lion Brand Yarn .  I should have taken a picture of just the trim before I stuck in onto the card.  This pattern w

Edward & Bella

Hi!  Made a card for Club Anya and Friends Saturday Sketch . I flipped the sketch upside down because I wanted to use my heart doily die from Cheery Lynn Designs.  It looked so good on Cheryl's card HERE .  I bought these dies from Cute Stuff.  They are so pretty.  Anyway, I thought the scalloped bottom could be the top half of the large heart doily.  The little rolled rose is from MFT.  Cut from PTI felt with a tiny cutout heart in the center. Then I made it into an easel card so the bottom half of the card could go on the inside of the card.  The heart was cut from a shiny grey cardstock.  It was leftover from the time I made my Beatles page.  See HERE if interested.  It's taken me this long to finally use the scraps. Oh yeah, I forgot to talk about the stamps!  I used TGF's Edward and Camille (Bella for all the Twilight fans).  Edward was probably one of my first TGF's stamps.  I didn't get Camille til much later and took me even longer to finally put them

Gift Cards

Hi!  Here is my last post for PTI's Make It Monday Challenge to partially emboss/deboss.  My other entries can be found HERE , HERE & HERE . I made a frame from fun foam.  This one used three 2 mm thick fun foam layers cut to 3x3 inch squares.  That was the size of the gifts cards I wanted to make.  I posted about using frames to partially emboss HERE . I had some leftover Stampin' Up 3x3 cards so I used the colored ones as the base and used the cream ones to emboss and stamp on. Here's a close up.  My stamping is a bit off.  But I think it's still cute.  I used PTI's Book Print impression plate.  I can't believe how many projects I made just with that one impression plate.  I just ordered the numbers one so I can't wait to get that one.  I have a lot more I want to order too.  The flowers are from PTI's Beautiful Blooms 2 dies and stamp set.  I used the medium sized flower die set for these cards.  The sentiments are from Tag-its #1.  They

Delightful Dahlia

Hi!  This is my 3rd project inspired by PTI's Make It Monday Challenge to partially emboss/deboss.  One card was also inspired by Moxie Fab World Tuesday Trigger (See photo below). This is actually my 3rd post of the day.  I would have posted yesterday but got too sick last night to craft.  Oh, the horror!  I wanted to but my body just wanted to sleep.  If you're interested in the first two posts, see HERE and HERE . I made 3 cards with the fun foam and cardboard frame.  For these projects, the cardboard frame seemed to work best in not leaving any impressions in the middle where I wanted to stamp the flower from PTI's Delightful Dahlia stamp set. This one is inspired by the colors and buttons from Moxie Fab World's Tuesday Trigger .  I really like how everything is neutral with just a hint of color.  That's what I wanted to convey with my card.  The base is PTI's fine linen cardstock.  The top cardstock is vintage cream.  The dahlia and sentiment are s

Hello and Hi!

Hi!  Me again.  This is my second project for PTI's Make It Monday Challenge to partially emboss/deboss.  Above is the frame I created using 6 mm fun foam and PTI's Beautiful Blooms 2 dies.  You can read about my foam frame and embossing obsession in my previous post HERE .  I ended up adding a cardboard piece over the fun foam to lessen the markings I get in the middle where I want it to be smooth.  After running the sandwich through with PTI's Book Print impression plate (it's the only one I have), I got this.  I stamped the flowers from PTI's Beautiful Blooms 2.  And the words and exclamation point are from MFT's Say What stamp set.  I colored in the petals with my red copic after I stamped the flowers.  The stamping was kind of spotty so I thought about restamping it but didn't want to risk it getting crooked.   I added some rhinestones and twine.  I really like how happy this card looks.  And happy too for PTI's challenges that make us thin

Yay for Fun Foam!

Hi!  I've been a bit obsessive lately with PTI's Make It Monday Challenge to partially emboss/deboss.  I've made a bunch more stuff but will split them into separate posts just so it'll be easier to read. My first project was posted here and actually got a shout out on PTI's sidebar!  That was fun and actually made all the work and attempts worth it.  But since then I've been thinking of ways to make it easier to come up with the same results.  I'm a little weary of placing a metal die on top of an impression plate to emboss.  I tried it very gently and it left slight scratches on the back side of my die and I'm afraid it would smash down my impression plate so I'll take the more conservative route. I like the idea of creating a frame as found in this Splitcoast Stampers tutorial on double embossing.  For my first card I must have cut up 2 cereal boxes and some corrugated cardboard too.  But that was tough!  But because I'm a messy kind of
