Sister Stamps Release #27 -- Kaleo

Hello again!  Today I'm sharing my Sister Stamps cards featuring Kaleo.  If you read my post yesterday, you'll see the cards today are kind of similar.  I was in a distress ink watercoloring kind of mood! So Pua reminded me of Aloha, and Kaleo reminds of Mahalo.  I don't know why but that's just what popped into my head and I went with it.  To me, Kaleo should be singing and playing on the beach somewhere!  Again, I heat embossed the sentiment in white using PTI's alphabet stamps.  I colored 4 Kaleos just varying his hair color and shorts/slippers.  Also added the tiny musical notes from one of Lawn Fawn's background stamps with the rows of musical notes so some selective stamping going on. And here are the birthday card versions with sentiments from CC Designs.  This guy is pretty awesome and adds such a sweet touch to any card.  Love the aloha shirt and his ukulele.  As usual, please check out what the rest of the DT has created! Sister Stamps Release #27 -- Pua

Hello!  Yay, finally time to share some Sister Stamps projects.  I made these cards a while ago so I may need to refresh my memory of my crafty process.  But it's not too complicated since my cards are usually CAS to begin with. Today, I'm sharing cards I made with Pua.  First of all, isn't she so cute?  Totally reminds me of May Day in Hawaii!  But she is a versatile image perfect for lots of occasions.  When I first saw her, I thought of Aloha so that is the sentiment I went with here made by heat embossing in white and PTI's alphabet stamps.  And rainbows!  Used my distress inks to make the rainbow colored backgrounds.  The right side is a bit brighter but I love the look of both.  I also colored the hair different for each girl and then added little white flowers to her her dress.  You can click on the photo for a bigger view. And then, I made a couple of birthday day cards using sentiments from CC Designs.  Same process here with heat embossed in white sen

Bright Pinky Pink & some gold too

Hello!  Wow, so I made a card today to join in on a couple challenges!  Amazing, right?  The first challenge is TGF's Pinky Pink and the second is MarkerPOP's Bright Colors . Okay, so I had this little Glisten Bean from TGF colored up (with Copics) for a while now.  But I didn't know what to add her onto until this morning when I saw Splitcoaststamper's neat watercolor bokeh tutorial .  Mine is not so much bokeh but I wanted to try the white ink stencil over some watercolored distressed ink. I added Lawn Fawn's hello die cut in gold and some sequins.  I think it's pretty bright too! That's it for now.  I'll be back Friday for some new Sister Stamps!

fabric needle case

Hello!  Before I share what I made today, did you all see Sister Stamps introductory post of their upcoming release?  The 2 new kiddos are so cute and are perfect for all kinds of occasions especially in Hawaii.  Can't wait to share my projects! Today, I spent most of the day making a fabric case for my needles and other sewing stuff.  I have had the same pack of needles for a while now and the packaging is falling apart so I checked out Pinterest of course and found this cute tutorial .  I left out the ribbon and made the cover a little different. I had a hard time picking which fabric to use and then found this one in my stash.  Just like paper, I have a hard time cutting up fabric. So for the first time, I sewed some stitches down the cover (and batting) to give it a quilted look.  I was always hesitant to try it cause I didn't want to make crooked lines but I saw a clever tip on Pinterest using painter's tape as a guide to make evenly spaced and straight line

personalized composition book cover

Hello!  I have another sewing project to share today.  I have been looking all over the internet for a good tutorial on how to make fabric composition book covers.  I found a good one HERE .  I made this cover for my youngest one's teacher.  This fabric is called Hello Tokyo from Robert Kaufman and I purchased it from one my favorite Etsy stores, Stitch Stash Diva .  I added the personalization by using some Heat Bond ultrahold and PTI's alphabet dies.  Usually I would print the name out and cut it all by hand but the letters had to be smaller to fit on the cover so the dies were pretty handy.  I also added some fray block on the letters to keep them more secure. Here is a side view.  There are a lot of different tutorials out there.  I made this one just a bit different from the tutorial as well.  I wanted to use up the fabric I had already cut into so I made the flaps using the same print.  You can see that in the photo below.  And I didn't quilt this cover but ma

travel size tissue covers

Hello!  Happy Valentine's Day!  It's a very windy day today.  Feels like a hurricane blowing outside.  Plus we got caught in the rain when we went out to run some errands this morning. Anyway, I have a sewing project to share today. I made 11 little tissue covers following this great tutorial I found HERE .  There are a lot of tutorials on how to sew these but I like that these have boxed corners and the opening is not centered but off a bit to accommodate the opening of the tissue packets. This is the first one I sewed for myself.  You can see the tissue packet has its opening near the top and not centered.   After I made this first one, the cover felt a bit roomy so I made the top opening overlap the bottom just a tiny bit but it still feels a bit loose around the packet. This one shows the overlap of the opening.  I like that it stays a bit closed instead of opened.   I think whenever I find a cute project to do, I always want to make a lot of th

more metal bookmarks!

Hello!  I did some cleaning up of my blog just now.  More tabs and less stuff on my sidebar.  Looks cleaner! Today I have more metal bookmarks to share.  I made a couple to give as gifts, one for my daughter's English teacher and one for a friend's daughter who loves to read.  The third one was kind of a mistake but I like the way it turned out anyway. These are the three I made.  I also made a couple of pom poms in school colors to go with the bookmarks.  The one in the middle is the whoops one.  I thought I was stamping an apple at the top but I had the moon instead!  So I went ahead and stamped the whole thing out anyway.  I'll have to think about who I can gift it to. Here's a close up of the moon quote.  I love the stars! Here is the one for my friend's daughter.  It's the Dr. Seuss quote about reading and learning.  I also stamped out her name on the bottom but then blurred it for this post.  I love that these can be so personalized! soccer key chains

Hello!  Thanks everyone for your positive comments!  I guess as long as the kids are happy with their Valentine's Day treats then it's all good.  I've already got something in mind for Easter so can't wait to get started on that.  Today I wanted to share some key chains I put together for a couple of girls' soccer teams.   I made 17 key chains in total.      I found this cute ribbon on Etsy and the mom who ordered these key chains loved the ribbon too.  Plus the team color is pink so I think it was a good fit.  Each piece of ribbon is sewed onto some black webbing.  I think I'm getting faster at sewing these!  Yay for practice!  I have some secrets in making these too now that I've made a few, like close to a 100.  So I think these are my best made key chains yet.  Also made these little soccer hair ties as a small thank you too.  I found the soccer ball pieces on Etsy.  I don't think I say it enough, but I love Etsy!  I literally spend hours j

Valentine's Day treats

Hi everyone!  I finished up some crafts this weekend including the Valentine's for my youngest one's classmates.  I mentioned before how I had bought Papertrey Ink's Love You to Pieces: Airplane and die set to make this year's Valentine's.  I'm still not very happy with this set and how it does not work well (for me) with PTI's coasters. Because I couldn't get the die to cut the coaster through evenly, I had to improvise and use some thin chipboard I have that I usually use for the backs of the calendars I make.  Not really happy with using brown chipboard but oh well.  And then stamping on the colors was not so great either.  I wanted to buy new red and blue ink pads but couldn't get to Ben Franklin and so I bought a small square of each color from Walmart.  It was Studio G brand and it's just kind of bad.  The ink doesn't stamp or dry well and stains the stamp like crazy.  I actually soaked the stamps overnight to try to get most of t
