Take a Moment ...

Hi, hi, hi!  Happy National Scrapbooking Day!  Happy Boy's/Children's Day!  and Happy Free Comic Book Day!  Wow, lots of special events going on today!  You know that if you go to a participating book/comic book store, you can get a free comic book?  Even our local library participates so we usually go there to get one for each of our kids.  Just Google it!

Okay, I'll try to talk more about my card today.  I haven't played with my SOG stamps in a really long time.  I really love the 2 new Nouveau Girls stamps, Renew and Royal.  I love their dresses and their hair!  So I kind of had to get them.  Hehe.  And I got them just in time to participate in SOG's May Sketch Challenge.

I decided to stamp up Renew first.  I love her dress so much!  I think I could've done her hair better but I still think she is pretty.  And my daughter actually thought she was pretty too and she rarely hands out those kinds of compliments.  I colored her in with Copics first then I looked around for some matching paper.  So I kind of lucked out that I found this pretty floral one.  Yeah, I don't know why but that's the way I've been doing cards lately.  Coloring first and then trying to find matching paper.  Kind of backwards.

The flowers and sentiments are also from the stamp set.  I cut out the flowers and added pearls in the center after I added some pink with my Copic.  There's a little bit of ribbon behind there.  I also love that these are clear stamps--you can easily see where you're stamping and can curve the sentiment to follow the circle.

I'm also entering this in Oozak's Challenge #2 -- Spring Colors.  Hope it's spring-y enough.

And at last I'm almost done with Catching Fire.  Just about 20 pages to go.  Only took me about a week though my daughter read it in 2 days.  Well, more like 4 hours!  Two hours a day and she was done!  Oh, I better end here so I can finish reading and I have an early day tomorrow even though it's Saturday.  No sleeping in.  Sad face.

Thanks for reading!

Ooooo she is gorgeous! I really want her too! Love the colors, very girlie! I was hoping to work on the SOG sketch today. There are so many sets that I "need" to buy from her!

I need to start book two, but the first one stressed me out so much that I don't know if I can handle it! LOL! I need to start though, because my hubby finished the first one and is waiting on me to get his hands on the second. I am a summer reader. I like to stay up late at night and read when I don't have to worry about getting the girls to school the next day!

It's cinco de mayo too, maybe more mention of it here in the southwest as opposed to Hawaii... I didn't know the comic book one, that's great, free comic books! Happy Boy's Day too! Wish I had more motivation to participate in the NSD activities. Anyhow, pretty card! Nice coloring of her dress and hair, and face! I always think I need to find paper first since I can never match it well, but so much more fun to color than plan the card.

This is beautiful Eva! I love the colours you have used and the papers are a perfect match! I often colour like you... colour first and hunt for paper later. It's kind of fun, but a bit stressful!

Thanks so much for joining us for the May sketch challenge at SOG!

Snowman gift card holder

Hi!  I was planning to post this last night but I was just too tired to write or think of complete sentences.  It's been a busy week with the boys on Fall break and still trying to finish up a bunch of crafts.  I have been trying to make some crocheted crafts to put in my Etsy shop and finally I'm done with one.  It's a crocheted snowman that can hold a gift card or anything actually that is small enough to fit in the pouch.  The pattern is designed by ChiWei Ranck of One Dog Woof and can be found HERE . Here's the little snowman with his arms folded over in the front to look like he is hugging the card.  I added this fun card that I stamped.  You can definitely add in a gift card too behind this card. The gift card reaches under his nose. This is how the little opening of the pouch looks.  I hope I can make more of these little guys.  These would be so cute for teachers and I think it would be easy to put a little wire through the hat and then use it as

coffee cup shaped cards

Hi!  I think after this post I may need a little nap!  My right shoulder is actually feeling worn out from all the typing and photo editing I've been doing lately.  And this cooler weather is making me drowsy.  It's getting cold here already! I made a bunch of these coffee shaped cards using a die from Honey Bee Stamps .  It's a cute coffee set but the die is extra long so it would probably help to have a longer platform to diecut.  I just have the standard sized one so I would pass it through once in my Big Shot and then rotate the cardstock and die carefully to cut the other end.  Manageable but the longer platform would be more convenient! I embossed the front of the card with some pretty snowflakes.  I think this is a Sizzix embossing folder.  And then stamped the coffee sleeve with some Lawn Fawn stamps. This is the inside.  The gift card slot does not come with this coffee cup die set.  I cut that opening with one of the dies from MFT's gift card dies.

all occasion tags

Hello!  I have more tags to share today.  I kept these simple too to be used on most any occasion.  They have no sentiments on them. I used MFT's cute Birdie Brown Bitty Bears stamp set.  These were on my wish list for a while and I kept going back and forth about purchasing them especially because I wanted the dies to cut them out too and those were very expensive!  Geez, remember the old days when we used to fussy cut everything out by hand? This is the next 6 tags.  There's also a cute bear with a Santa hat that I didn't include in the photos.  This was a pretty quick project since I kept the bears white!  Not much coloring on these tags but they are still cute and colorful. I thought I was going to be doing more stamping but I've actually gone on to crochet more!  I've made 3 more crochet projects that I'll share soon.  Sometimes I do get the urge to color something but these days it's so much easier to pick up some yarn and my hook and crochet
