felt easter chicks

Hello!  Hope you're all enjoying the weekend.  I spent most of today cleaning and cooking and there is still more to cook and clean! 

I finally got around to taking some photos of the Easter chicks I made for my youngest one's class.  I've been wanting to sew up something cute using felt and was lingering on Pinterest one day and came across this site.  Such cute creations but I obviously don't have anything as fancy as that machine!  I love the clear tummy idea so I thought about how I could make something similar with the materials and tools I had.

I got my largest oval Spellbinders die to cut out the chick's body and a smaller circle die for the tummy.  The chick's feathers, beak and wings were cut out using Taylored Expressions chick dies.  Then I wondered what I could use for the clear part of his tummy and I didn't want to buy anything extra like clear vinyl.  So I used my clear contact paper.  I just folded a piece large enough with the sticky sides together and sewed that over the space in his tummy.  Then I added on some wiggly eyes.

Here is the back.  I made a little over lap but didn't sew the ends of the top half completely so reaching in to grab the treats would be easier.

Here is a the whole bunch of them.  Twenty one in total.  A couple extra for the teacher's boys too.

We added some Smarties candies into the chick, some grass and a cute tag (Mama Elephant bunny, Lawn Fawn sentiment and tag die). 

A bunch of them all bagged up and ready to be passed out in a few more weeks.

Aye, how CUTE is THAT??? You are on a roll and ahead of the game having finished these weeks before Easter. Can't wait to see your other Easter projects.

OMG, these are just adorable and oh-so creative! You're the mom every kid wants to have because you4 gift giving is always so much fun! (I wish my machine would cut felt like yours does...I'm going to have to keep trying.)

oh these are super cute Eva!! Love how you incorporated the different elements of felt and the clear contact paper. lol about those googly eyes. I bet the kids are going to be so excited to get these. great share!

TGF 3rd Annual Customer Blog Hop

Hi!  After finishing up these 2 projects for TGF's Blog Hop , I've come to realize that I am kind of addicted to stamps, especially TGF stamps.  Hehe.  Okay, I will not babble on too much since there are lots of other blogs to check out as well.  I made something for both categories, Holiday and General. upcycling Pokemon wrappers

Hello everyone!  I am back with my latest sewing creations.  I have been playing around with plastic wrappers!  I've seen those upcycled plastic wrap bags and purses (usually made from Capri Sun package juice) but never really paid attention to them or how they were made until I saw this tutorial using the wrappers from Pokemon cards.  My boys love Pokemon cards and were just throwing the wrappers away but I started saving them and collected enough from their recent birthdays to make a couple of items.  Here is a little coin pouch (didn't want to call it a purse since it's for my youngest boy and he'd probably not like that).  This little pouch was made with 4 wrappers, 2 in front and 2 in back.  It is a bit tough to turn right side out because the wrappers and contact paper get stiff.  But it's possible and looks really neat!  I made it so he could hang it from the inside of his backpack and also carry around a little bit of emergency...
